We Got Our Stuff But...

Where do I begin. We finally received our stuff from the moving company. I won't mention any names (New Planet Moving and Storage, out of Las Vegas) but they really screwed up. We were supposed to get our stuff last week, then they postponed the move to this past weekend, but our complex does not allow move-ins on weekends, so we set the final date for Monday, July 14.

They called the night before and said they would be here at 8 am. Well 11 rolls around so I called the drivers. They said that they were lost, so I gave them directions. Once they arrived I paid them the remaining balance of the move, but they charged me for 5500 pounds of stuff, but ours only weighed 5050 pounds. The difference is a couple hundred dollars. So I paid the full amount so they would start unloading our stuff. A storm was supposed to roll in that morning and afternoon, so I wanted them to hurry. Once the office opened in Las Vegas, I talked to the manager and told him I was overcharged. After much debate and talking really slow and loud, so he could understand me, he decided to be honest and charge me for how much my stuff weighed. I knew the weight because I went to the weigh scales before and after the pick-up in Utah, which the manager didn't know.

The movers had to park on the street outside of the complex because their 50 ft semi-truck would not fit into the complex, so they had to carry everything on a dolly. Every once in a while I would spy on them to see how they were doing. I saw them dropping boxes off of the dolly, running into walls, and other unprofessional things. I noticed a knob was missing from our entertainment center, so I walked toward the truck and found the knob laying in the road. The door the knob was connected to was cracked and doesn't shut straight. The list could go on an on. Broken glasses, dents in our washer and dryer, upside-down boxes that were clearly marked "this side up," and much more. I think all of the damage was done by these two morons.

Oh, I am not done! At the end the movers asked me to check the truck to make sure it was all cleared out and said that they were going to leave. I told them that they still have to put all of the furniture together that the first movers took down in Utah. They told me they didn't do that and they don't have any tools. So I called the owner again and he said they do have to put the furniture together. I also asked him if they have tools and he said yes, so I caught them in a lie. So the movers said they were going to get some lunch and come back.

3 hours later, no movers or phone call saying what was going on. I called the driver a few times, but he ignored me. So I call the owner, I bet he loved me, and he said he just got off the phone with the drivers and there was a problem with the trucks' air conditioning or something. A phone call would have been nice. Why did I have to contact them to tell me the problems? Anyways...So the owner said that the movers can come over later that night or the following morning. I responded, WHat are we going to sleep on. I paid you to put my furniture back together. At this point it was about 8 pm and it was close to Bryant's bed time. So I said I would put the furniture together for $100. He said that the most he could give me was $50. After much debate, I was offered $100 as he hung up the phone on me. So We will see if we get the money or not. I have since heard from them.

What an experience. Mainly because these two movers were tired and hated their jobs. To all of you, AVOID NEW PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE from Las Vegas!!! We received everything, damaged, but we got everything. The TV and the computer works, so I am not extremely mad. So my next task is to get the $100 and make claims on all of the broken items. Wish us luck.

Bryant is a little excited to see some familiar furniture.

This coin fell out of the couch.

Some stuff they didn't put together...

...and some more...

Some broken glasses

The first thing I had to open from the boxes was Bryan't basketball hoop. He kept yelling, "Baketball shoot it, Baketball shoot it, Baketball shoot it!" After the hundreth time, I gave in and opened it.
